中央選舉委員會主辦的首場總統選舉電視政見發表會晚間在民視登場，親民黨總統候選人宋楚瑜、蔡英文與朱立倫首次同台論政，依序發言。
蔡英文分享民進黨幕僚的故事，這個幕僚是中小企業第二代，想接家族事業接不下來，想走又捨不得，面對中國大陸競爭越來越大，中小企業升級技術後繼無力，「這些年輕人很努力，但都有同樣焦慮」。
緊接著發言的朱立倫不忘「酸」蔡英文說，他認識家中事業碰到瓶頸的年輕人，把寶特瓶創造成新品牌，「遇到瓶頸困難，不一定都是放棄來當妳的助理，跟著妳一起抱怨」，很多年輕朋友願突破創新。
他說，任桃園縣長時，財政瀕臨破產，他力圖轉型，桃園成為招商第1名；任行政院副院長時，經濟面臨嚴峻挑戰，經整理打拚，第2年經濟成長率是「蔡副院長」的2倍。
第二輪發言時，蔡英文馬上反擊表示，朱立倫說還有很多年輕人在中小企業成功案例，「我要告訴朱主席還是有很多人在掙扎當中」，成功數字可能比成功的人還多，是不是請朱立倫到台灣很多地方看看真實情況。
至於朱立倫稱任行政院副院長時經濟成長率高，蔡英文要朱立倫不要忘了，前1年剛好是金融危機，那是負成長的時候，第2年當然會較高一點。
朱立倫主張要把台灣建立為自由經濟島，蔡英文說，這是過時的出口加工觀念，對現代的創新產業其實是落伍。
接著發言的朱立倫則說，許多國家都在推，民進黨執政縣市長也去參觀；兩岸最黑暗時期就是民進黨2000年到2008年執政時期，2008年國民黨執政後才是兩岸關係發展最快速時。
朱立倫表示，蔡英文是兩國論最早倡議者，但2012年選舉時擔心影響選票另提台灣共識，很多人不清楚台灣共識，這次改講維持現況，蔡英文又提到維持現況就是台灣共識，顯示再次用模糊狀況面對兩岸關鍵未來。
蔡英文說，兩國論是當時國民黨籍總統提出，當時所有國民黨從政人員都同意，朱立倫當時是立法委員，也贊成兩國論。
她說，現在的台灣共識就是維持現狀，台灣人民非常高比例同意她的維持現狀；她的維持現狀與總統馬英九的維持現狀不同，「顯然朱主席也沒有仔細聽，居然回來問我說有什麼不一樣的地方」。
緊接著發言的朱立倫表示，他是國民黨新生代，和上一代國民黨淵源不深，蔡英文和宋楚瑜有很深的淵源。前總統李登輝提「兩國論」時，蔡英文是原始倡議者。
